Ponnopozz - Sandwich Board
Some projects are just meant to be loud in the best way.
We teamed up with our friends at Ponnopozz (a maximalist dreamworld disguised as a storefront in Ravenswood, Chicago) to bring a bold and joyful custom sign to life. Artist and shop owner Adrianne Hawthorne sent over her vision for a sandwich board that would feel unmistakably Ponnopozz—bright, punchy, and unapologetically fun.
THE DESIGN
Adrianne provided the font layout and overall design direction (how iconic is that chunky OPEN NOW moment?). Together, we picked a fluorescent yellow acrylic for the base and a fiery red-orange + iconic blue vinyl to make the words pop off the street. The colors were no accident—they were chosen to catch light, turn heads, and live their best lives on Montrose Ave.
THE BUILD
Back at The Joy Lab, we got to work:
Sourcing the large acrylic sheet
Heat bent the sign by hand (hello, perfectly angled lean)
Hand-placed vinyl lettering with obsessive precision
This piece is a mix of art and utility, made with love and a lil’ sweat. The finished sign stands loud and proud outside Ponnopozz HQ, proving you don’t have to whisper to be professional.
WHY WE LOVE IT
This kind of collab is our sweet spot: we take your creative idea and bring it to life with custom fabrication magic—no boring templates, no off-the-shelf vibes.
